Our Vision & Values

"Maisha Yangu" means "My Life" in Swahili. We believe that our life experiences and the choices we make determine our trajectory. By bringing young lives together, we empower children and youth to take charge of their futures and create positive change in their communities.

Founded in 2020, Maisha Yangu Organization serves children and youth in Kawangware, Nairobi, Kenya. This vibrant community of approximately 295,500 people faces significant challenges: 65% are children, and most families live on less than $2 per day. Limited access to education, safe spaces, and basic resources creates barriers to opportunity.

Kawangware struggles with high school dropout rates, substance abuse, and gender-based violence. Many homes lack the safety and resources children need to thrive—whether tangible needs like money and school supplies, or intangible needs like love, emotional support, and a sense of belonging. We exist to bridge these gaps.

Our Mission

To empower children and youth with education, mentorship, and creative expression, inspiring them to become positive change-makers in their communities.

Our Vision

To create thriving communities where every child has access to education, opportunity, and the support they need to reach their full potential.
